Timothy J. McGuire often reflects on Sunday mornings when he would join the church choir during praise and worship. Those are precious memories that keep him focus as he continues to make a joyful but different noise unto the Lord. He has previously released his first rap c.d. entitled “Everyday Like Sunday”, an album that evangelizes through hip-hop riffs and rhythmic word play. Young Timothy refers to his music as a means to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to a group that has embraced hip-hop as a way of life. On any given day Timothy could have been found at Winston Salem State University, where he attended college, producing and engineering songs for local artist. That was a time he deemed very difficult being away from his family, church, and friends. Storms of life began to rage as Timothy pursued a music career rather ministry. He was fortunate to land a major production deal but due to creative differences, the agreement was nullified. By November of 2006, Timothy sold his studio equipment, and began to bury his God given gifts. It was after an encounter with God when Young Timothy began surrendering to the call that was upon his life and take heed to his parent’s advice. “My mom and dad, who were also my pastors, would always tell me to use my gifts to glorify God and spread the gospel instead of doing secular music “, says Timothy. He also stated “I’ve learned that everything God places in an individual is for building His Kingdom and lifting up Jesus Christ”. The title “Everyday Like Sunday” was inspired by a slogan that describes heaven as being like Sunday everyday and Sabbath having no end. Young Timothy is currently preparing to release his sophomore album entitled “Sabbath Day’s Journey”. Timothy clarifies that rap or hip-hop is not to be worshiped or glorified. It is an art form and instrument to reach a much different generation at a much different time for Jesus Christ.
