Biography

from raleigh, nc- genesis has been rapping half her life...since the tender age of 12. her high school basketball coaches dubbed her the name "basketball mc" because she was always rapping and singing. little did she know that a day would come that she would be writing lyrics and rapping her own songs instead of others.

accepting Jesus as her Lord at the age of fifteen, genesis figured her rapping days were over. so, she put down her pen and closed her notebook. while she wasnt rapping, she was learning more about Christ. a few years later while at her then church in a sunday service with guest song leader Kent Henry, he asked the congregation to write words to or about Christ during those moments of worship and reverence. they had 10 minutes to complete it and this is what she wrote-

"deep in the place of the Fathers abyss
cuz in your presence i never miss
im tryna make history and tryna diss misery
your the main man and your always fillin me
drill me in your full house like 3 stories and neva pull me out
step by step im sayin Yahweh with every breath
inhale-exhale, your the best even when i fail
you picked me up and love prevailed
truly.
well, turned my ashes to beauty
you made me a newbie
you lived to make that your number one duty."

she was asked to recite what she wrote and the crowed was amazed- and so was genesis. the gift she thought she had to throw away was still within her. and that was the rebirth of the gift that she will share for the rest of her life. she spent the next few years ministering at her church when requested, she even traveled to other churches and other youth groups, talent shows and other events and venues spreading the message of Jesus Christ.

genesis is back from hiatus and has been writing non stop with lyrics fresher than ever. she is currently ministering at local shows and is working on her album. throughout many of genesis' songs you hear her edgy style, jaw dropping metaphors and dope punch lines...not to mentions tons of scripture. she often gets alot of inspiration from the Bible and has a few raps where she literally "raps the Bible".
