Upon Awakening

Good morning, Lord, and let me say

Thank you for each brand new day;

For each new chance to start again

With Jesus as my closest friend.

I'll walk along the path He trod

Eyes always focused on my God.

Thankful for my daily bread,

I'll try to live the life He led;

To wipe a tear or hold a hand

With compassion for my fellow man.

And when at last my time has come,

Please smile on me and say "Well done."
